Abstract:
The effectiveness and impact of Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM in the treatment of acne is a topic of growing interest among healthcare practitioners and patients alike. This study was conducted with the m of evaluating the clinical outcomes of treating 48 cases of acne using TCM's principle of diagnosis and prescription formulation.
:
A total of 48 cases were assessed through Chinese Medicine's diagnostic method, which involves identifying patterns based on signs and symptoms presented by each patient. These patterns are categorized into four types: Heat Toxin Accumulation, Blood Stasis Blockage, Dampness with Toxins, and Western medicine as the control group.
Heat Toxin Accumulation 24 cases: This pattern was identified in patients characterized by feverish skin rashes, redness, or inflammation. The self-formulated TCM formula was designed to clear heat and detoxify the body.
Blood Stasis Blockage 6 cases: Patients exhibiting symptoms such as irregular pigmentation or hard lumps on the skin were diagnosed with this pattern requiring a TCM intervention med at dissolving blood stasis.
Dampness with Toxins 48 cases: This pattern encompasses various symptoms including oily skin, congestion in the face, and acne flare-ups due to excessive dampness in the body. The prescribed TCM formula was meant to disperse dampness and detoxify.
A concurrent Western Medicine treatment group consisting of 60 patients was used as a comparison base for assessing clinical efficacy.
Results:
After administering the respective Chinese medicine treatments over several weeks, significant improvements were observed in both the patient populations receiving traditional remedies and those treated with conventional Western medicine. However, data on specific metrics like reduction in acne lesions or improvement in skin quality are provided to ensure transparency.
Discussion:
s of this study highlight the potential benefits of TCM in treating acne, suggesting that Chinese Medicine can offer a complementary approach alongside conventional treatments. The findings underscore the need for further research to establish more robust evidence and support the integration of traditional remedies into modern healthcare practices.
:
This study provides preliminary evidence supporting the use of TCM in managing acne patients. The clinical outcomes demonstrate promising results, which may inspire future studies focusing on larger sample sizes or longer treatment durations. It opens up avenues for integrating TCM in dermatological interventions as a holistic approach to skin health management.
