Established in the early 1950s with over six decades of history, our department serves as a regional standard for diagnosing and treating complex dermatological diseases in western China. Recognized as a state clinical key specialty by the National Health Commission, it is one of the most crucial centers for clinical practice, research, education, and professional development across southwestern China. Prsed with consecutive top 10 rankings in the Best Dermatology Specialist category from the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University a prominent Chinese statistical agency, our department has been a leader since 2015 to 2018.
Our team comprises 33 highly qualified medical professionals, including seven senior experts, seven professors, and seven associate professors. We play pivotal roles in various leadership capacities within the Chinese Dermatologist Venerologist Society of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. Many members also hold significant positions in both domestic and international dermatological societies.
The department boasts four Ph.D.M.D. supervisors alongside ten masters' supervisors, divided into six sub-specialties: medical cosmetology and cosmetics, skin-associated immune diseases, fungal and infectious dermatological conditions, clinical-pathological study of skin tumors, genetic skin diseases, and dermatologic surgery. We are dedicated to pioneering advancements through a collaborative network that includes specialized teams such as onychosis management, hr disease treatment, and rare disease groups.
Innovative research and teaching practices have resulted in the cultivation of experienced instructors and approximately 20 Ph.D.master graduates annually. Our medical cosmetology and cosmetics sub-specialty has made substantial contributions to understanding skin aging and diseases that affect appearance, providing robust clinical guidelines for cosmetic safety and efficacy evaluations. By establishing China's first-ever and unique skin biology engineering laboratory and cosmetic engineering technology research center, we have significantly advanced the field.
Our focus on skin-associated immune diseases covers a range of conditions such as allergies, inflammatory skin disorders, psoriasis, autoimmune bullous diseases, and autoimmune connective tissue disorders. We are equipped with state-of-the-art methodologies including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, real-time quantitative PCR, immunoblotting, and immunohistochemistry to drive our research forward.
The fungal and infectious dermatological diseases sub-specialty has led groundbreaking work, notably being the first case report of treating infantile hemangioma with itraconazole. This has provided a new safe, convenient, and affordable treatment option for vascular hyperplasia. We have constructed an evidence-based platform for dermatology and skin disease management, including infections caused by fungi, bacteria, and viruses.
The clinicopathological study of skin tumors is conducted by the vice leader of the pathology unit in our society. Our team performs direct immunofluorescence diagnostics across Sichuan province, offering a comprehensive approach that includes both the clinical study and molecular biology exploration into disease pathogenesis and early detection strategies.
Our genetic skin diseases research focuses on conditions like acrodermatitis enteropathica where we have first reported mutations in Chinese patients. We are also pioneering efforts in diagnosing and treating malassezia-induced skin diseases, which is globally recognized.
The dermatologic surgery sub-specialty boasts a high volume of more than 10,000 procedures annually, including over 3,000 detl suture techniques, around 300 nl operations, and over 150 hr transplant surgeries. Our expertise in detl suturing, hr transplantation, nl surgery, and nl disease treatment is highly esteemed globally.
Our department has a strong history of delivering presentations at the World Congress of Dermatology, International Society for Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery conferences, as well as annual meetings of Chinese and international dermatological societies.
