Founded in the early 1950s and boasting over six decades of history, our department has established itself as a regional hub for diagnosing and treating complex skin diseases in Western China. As a national key clinical specialty constructed under the supervision of the National Health Commission, it is a crucial base for practicing medicine, conducting research, offering education, and nurturing talents across southern-western China. Since 2015 through to 2018, based on statistical data from the Hospital Management Institute at Fudan University, our department has consistently ranked within the top ten Best Dermatology Specialties in China.

Our team comprises of 33 dedicated professionals, among whom are seven senior experts, seven professors and seven associate professors. We serve as a deputy chr organization for the Chinese Society of Dermatologists Venerologists under the Chinese Medical Association, with several members occupying vital roles including vice-chrmen, committee members, etc.

Clinical Specialties

Our department is divided into six sub-specialities:

  1. Medical Cosmetology and Cosmetics: This area focuses on understanding the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and evaluation of skin aging and disfiguring diseases. We pioneer clinical safety and efficacy assessments in cosmetics, and offer treatments for skin conditions that result from cosmetic use.

  2. Skin-Associated Immune Diseases: Specializing in allergy, inflammatory skin diseases, psoriasis, autoimmune bullous disorders, and autoimmune connective tissue diseases, our team has established advancedand platforms using flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, real-time PCR, and other molecular biological techniques.

  3. Fungal and Infectious Dermatological Diseases: We pioneered the use of itraconazole to treat infantile hemangiomas, showcasing its effectiveness as a safe, convenient, and affordable treatment for vascular hyperplasia. Our team has set up platforms centered on dermatology, fungal, bacterial, and viral infection treatments across research, education, and innovation.

  4. Clinicopathological Study of Skin Tumors: Acting as the vice leader of the Dermatology Pathology Unit of the Chinese Society of Dermatology, our group conducts whole-province direct immunofluorescence diagnostics for skin bullous diseases. We also undertake the clinicopathological study of skin lymphoproliferative disorders and early diagnosis through molecular biology.

  5. Genetic Skin Diseases: Our genodermatosis team contributed to Chinese research by reporting SLC39A4 mutations in acrodermatitis enteropathica patients, DOCK8 mutations in cases of autosomal recessive hyper-IgE syndrome, NIPAL4 mutation associated with non-bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma, and DSG1 mutations causing non-epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma.

  6. Dermatologic Surgery: Our surgery department performs over 10,000 procedures annually, including more than 3,000 detled suture techniques, around 300 nl operations and over 150 hr transplant procedures. We are recognized nationally for our proficiency in detl suture techniques, hr transplantation, nl surgeries, and treatments of nl diseases.

Research and Publication

Our department is committed to innovation through research and publication in prestigious journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology JAAD and British Journal of Dermatology BJD. We have contributed several papers with cover images in BJD. Moreover, our expertise spans across diverse areas including pathogenesis research, clinical diagnosis methods, and early detection mechanisms.
